Happy Birthday to my little "flower hut" One whole year since you arrived in our garden in Westergate, West Sussex. The Flower Hut Florist has been my little corner of joy. Its been tough at times (I won't lie) and starting a business certainly is and still is a learning curve, but oh my goodness, the joy it brings doing something I really love!
This all wouldn't be possible without the support and encouragement my husband gives me.
Christmas wreath season. Not to mention my spreadsheet/excel guy! (I don't have a clue how to use Excel!)
And thank you to everyone who has supported my flower journey and small business, whether that's through educating, friendship, encouragement, recommending "The Flower Hut Florist" or being one of my lovely, loyal customers. Every sale really does make me jump up and down with joy! Thank you xx
When you run a small, independent business and you struggle with imposter syndrome like I do, it is very easy to always focus on the negatives. But now, one year on, I'm reflecting back on the last year and I can honestly say, I didn't think or imagine The Flower Hut Florist blooming. Delivering flowers to customers is an absolute joy and seeing the smile on their faces when they receive their beautiful flowers is just wonderful. Don't get me wrong, I am not a physical shop, and I currently only offer a personal local delivery, so some days I'm not in my workshop making bouquets, but its amazing to be doing something I love and still be around to watch my two little ones grow when I am not at work. They keep me very busy!
Last August, I had the pleasure of being asked to do three weddings and then a very busy December hosting Christmas wreath workshops at The Chichester City Arts Centre. It was so lovely. And now, coming up to May, where I again have the joy of three more weddings and some booked towards the end of the year. I can't wait! It is wonderful to be a part of a couple's special day, bringing their floral vision to life! And this summer I will be hosting four dried wreath workshops at the beautiful Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens. (Please do head to their website to find out more)
So, my point is, I didn't know any of this this time last year! Here's to the next year!
Much love and gratitude,
Ashton xx
